If it's about 7" wide, and 10" high, and full-color, it's probably a Krames handout. Krames Communications offers a wide selection of cardiovascular titles that are full-color, with a realistic art style. Typical price: $1.25 to $2.25 per copy.

(Personal opinion: these booklets are the gold standard in full-color generic patient education. The problem: they're too expensive.)

U-Write is quite innovative, in that the company sells blank patient education handouts, along with a disc with text that can be customized by the purchaser. The brochures are full-color, with a realistic art style. Price: $0.49 per brochure.

(Personal opinion: if someone in the office knows how to use Microsoft Word, check these out!)

Pritchett & Hull offers a wide selection of cardiology titles that are typically two-color, with a cartoon art style. Typical price: $1.45 to $4.75 per copy.

(Personal opinion: The cartoon heart, complete with hands, legs and a smile, that appears throughout the cardiology titles may be as much of a liability as the steep price. On the other hand, the typical P&H book is loaded with content, while still maintaining an open, friendly design.)

The AHA sells a wide selection of cardiovascular titles that are two-color, with a realistic art style. Although AHA prices climbed sharply in the last few years, the titles are still attractively priced at $0.30 to $0.60 per copy.

(Personal opinion: good value. What was that old saying, "No one ever got fired for recommending IBM." Same rule applies here.)
